4. BEOGRAD-ŠABAC-BANJA KOVILJACA-ZVORNIK-FEDERATION
OF BOSNA and HERCEGOVINA
The
road to Šabac leads along the right bank of the river
bank of the river Sava via townlet Umka and Obrenovac
31 km far from Beograd.
Along this part of the road there are several good fish
restaurants.Farther to the south near the place of Skela
it is possible to cross the river Sava by a ferry to
Kupnovo with Obedska bara nearby, a marsh with wildlife
reserve.
Šabac is 84 km far from Beograd lying on the bank of
the river Sava and being the seat of the rich agricultural
region.There is an old fort on the bank of the river.
South from Šabac there si a forested mountain Cer (544
m) with a monument and ossuary of soldiers of World
War I. From Šabac the road contines to Banja
Koviljaca, one of the best arranged spa of Serbia,
situated in a big park at spa foot of mountain Gucevo,
on the bank of the river Drina. This spa boasts with
highly curative sulphurous and ferrous mineral water
and sulphurous mad.
The alternative road to the Federation of Bosna and
Hercegovina runs from Šabac via Bogatic to Pavlovic
bridge near Bijeljina or towards Sremska Raca.

Koviljaca (170 km)
Banja Koviljaca can be reached via
Valjevo along the Ibar road or via Obrenovac and Ub.
Westward from Valjevo the road leads across beautiful
areas. Near location of Zavlaka there is a road junction
for Bela Crkva, a village where on 7 July 1941 the first
rebel rifle was fired in Serbia. Nearby there are Krupanj
and Stolce, historical sites connected with People Liberation
War as well. A dozen kilometers away from Loznica lies
Tršic the place where Vuk Karadžic was born. In the
vicinity there is medievel Monastery Tronoša.
